French Winemakers Win Big in 2021 Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg
The sole global competition dedicated to the diversity of white wines has come to a close early this month with French winemakers bagging most of the recognitions, including the two topmost awards.
For over two decades, Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg has been recognizing the best white wines the world has to offer. The event was held at the Congress Centre Strasbourg in France on 2-3 October,

The competition has gathered approximately 660 samples from 20 countries, including the first entries from Bulgaria, Japan, and New Mexico in the US.
A diverse panel of 70 expert judges of 21 nationalities, which include sake specialist Toshio Ueno and returning judge Marie Cheong Thong, was tasked to identify this year’s stellar entries.

Among samples, the Riesling entry by Becht Pierre Et Frederic Earl from Dorlisheim, France snatched the coveted Le Grand Prix Du Jury for obtaining the highest mark in the contest.
The Le Prix Vinofed award, which is awarded to the top-ranking still dry wine, was given to the Sylvaner sample by Cave de Turckheim from Turckheim, France.

The Le Prix Vinofed award, which is awarded to the top-ranking still dry wine, was given to the Sylvaner sample by Cave de Turckheim from Turckheim, France.
French winemakers still dominated in the dry wine categories, including Assemblage, Chenin, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Sylvaner. Samples from Greece, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Australia were also recognized.
Moreover, the contest conferred 185 medals – 81 gold and 104 silver – to other samples across five continents.
Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg is organized under the patronage of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV). It is also a member of the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits (VinoFed).
